Getting Started:
Creating a Binder
STEP 1: Add Documents
The first step in creating your new electronic binder is to load your documents into the E-Ring Binder application. You will have the option to include custom document information such as nicknames, tags, and custom citations. New documents can be added at any time.
See “Adding Documents” to learn how to add documents.
STEP 2: Reorder Documents
Next, ensure that your documents are in the proper order, and reorder them if necessary.
See “Reordering Documents” to learn how to reorder your documents.
STEP 3: Add Cover Pages (Optional)
You may wish to include cover pages in your binder. Cover pages will appear before each document in your binder. Cover page text is based on a customizable template.
See “Adding Custom Cover Pages” to learn how to create and customize your binder’s cover pages.
STEP 4: Add Labels (Optional)
You will next want to add labels (e.g., exhibit numbers) to your documents. Select your desired format (numerical, alphabetical, roman numerals), and whether you would like documents in the same family to be labeled together. E-Ring Binder also provides the option to automatically update labels if you add, remove, or reorder documents.
See “Labeling Documents” to learn how to add labels to your documents.
STEP 5: Show the Table of Contents (Optional)
E-Ring Binder can automatically generate a Table of Contents with links to each document. To toggle the Table of Contents display, simply click the “Show Table of Contents” icon under the “Navigate” Tab.
See “Adding a Table of Contents” for more information.
That’s it!
Your binder is now ready to use! You can now save your binder as a .erbf file by selecting “Save” from the program menu (click the E-Ring Binder logo in the top left of your screen).
Take a look at “Getting Started: Organizing Your Binder” and “Getting Started: Navigating Your Binder” for some more information on how to get the most out of E-Ring Binder.
