Adding Notes
This guide will instruct you on how to add, format, and export notes.
The Notepad
E-Ring Binder allows you to draft notes for your documents. To open or close the Notepad, click the “Add Notes” icon under the “Organize” tab. Each document has its own notepad which becomes viewable when the document is active in the Viewer.
You can resize the notepad by clicking and dragging on the bar separating the Notepad and the Viewer. In the top right of the notepad, you will also see an option to dock the notepad on the left, right, or bottom of your screen.
Formatting Notes
The notepad is a rich-text field that allows bolding, italicizing, and lists. To format text, select it with your cursor and a formatting toolbar will appear.
You can also use the following hotkeys to format your text:
To toggle bolding, press (Ctrl/⌘)+B on your keyboard;
To toggle italicizing, press (Ctrl/⌘)+I on your keyboard;
To create a bulleted list, start a line in the notepad with a dash followed by a space (“- “).
To create a numbered lists, start a line in the Notepad with a number followed by a period and a space (“1. “).
Exporting Notes
You can export your notes to a .docx word document through the Print/Export Document window. See “Printing and Exporting” for more information.
Selecting “Include Notes in Export” will allow you to decide which notes you would like to export. When you press “Submit,” you will be prompted to select a save-file location for your exported notes.
When exported, each documents’ notes will appear on a fresh page of the word document.
